BGC PRESENTS THE DARK AND FUNNY HOUR HOSTED BY J.R. BJORNSON

Join your host (that’s me!), J.R. Bjornson—Red Deer’s own blind stand-up comedian—for a one-night-only comedy show full of laughs, stories, and probably a few jokes you shouldn’t repeat at work.

I’m bringing together some of Alberta’s best and funniest:

Kate Hunter – Possibly banned from YouTube for “light treason” (her words, not mine).

Luke Walls – Straight outta Lacombe, with credits like The Hollywood Improv, Toronto YukYuks, and a roast battle champ at the Hollywood Comedy Store.

AND a surprise mystery headliner who’s been on Just For Laughs, SiriusXM, and stages around the world.

This is a dark and dirty-themed show—so if you’re easily offended, maybe hit up a Disney+ special instead. But if you’re 18+, love edgy humor, and want to support local comedy, this show is for you.

Tickets are only $20, show starts at 8 PM, and we’ll keep it tight at 90 minutes because hey—I’m a dad of five and I need sleep.

This could turn into a regular series with new themes and comics every 60 days—so let’s pack the place and prove Red Deer is ready to laugh! The quaint venue inside the Super 8 is called 50 North Pub and only holds a total of 50 people, so make sure to buy your tickets sooner then later as once we reach our capacity we will turn people away.

Heads Up What to Expect

This show is intended for mature audiences 18+. The Dark & Dirty Hour is a themed comedy event where performers are encouraged to push the boundaries with bold, unfiltered material. Some jokes may include adult language or edgy topics. The goal? To make you laugh—sometimes in ways that might make you question if you’re going to heaven afterward.

The views expressed during the show are entirely those of the comedians and do not necessarily reflect those of BlindGuyComedy.com or J.R. Bjornson. While we often promote clean, family-friendly shows, this one is a little different. Think of it as comedy’s spicy cousin.

If this event sells out and people have a great time, we’ll explore other themed shows every 60 days—maybe clean comedy nights, roast battles, or something else entirely. It’s all about trying new things and celebrating every shade of funny.

Comedians performing on May 15 will receive a portion of the ticket sales, with BlindGuyComedy.com keeping 25% to help cover production and promotion costs. This means if we sell out, I make just enough to pay off the event and tuck the rest into making the next one even better. Huge thanks to 50 North Pub for giving us the space to make this night happen.

Thank you for supporting live comedy in Red Deer—and for helping us build something new, risky, and totally worth it.

See you May 15… if you’re brave enough.
